Philly indie-rock quartet The Districts were still in their teens when they formed in 2009, but each of their records has heralded a dramatic evolution. On 2012’s “Funeral Beds”, they steered a harmonica-honkin’ rootsy stomp toward a gloriously ramshackle climax; a few years later, “4th and Roebling” introduced a Strokes-like swagger to their step. With their 2020 release, they began exploring the possibilities of the studio: You Know I’m Not Going Anywhere fuses Beach Boys melodies with the oddball experimentation of MGMT, condensing the past 50 years of psychedelic pop into radiant three-minute sunbursts.
