The Bad Plus Essentials

The Bad Plus Essentials

Founded in 2000 by Minnesotans Ethan Iverson, Dave King, and Reid Anderson, The Bad Plus have carved out a unique path in the jazz world, drawing from influences as wide-ranging as Keith Jarrett's American Quartet, 20th century classical, and IDM. The trio's early albums initially drew some mainstream attention for their covers of tracks by rock acts such as Queen and Nirvana. But in later work, the group have stuck to mostly original compositions, while also collaborating with the likes of Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Bill Frisell.
