Tegan and Sara: Pride

Tegan and Sara: Pride

Synth-pop duo (and twin sisters) Tegan and Sara have a good idea about the songs they expect to hear at their Pride after-parties. On behalf of the group, Sara Quin offered this memory of her first exposure to Pride: “When I think of Pride, I think of the first spring I spent in Toronto in 1999,” Quin tells Apple Music. “From our aunt’s apartment, we looked down onto Bloor Street, and asked her about the parade going by. 'The Gay Pride Parade!' she exclaimed. I blushed, still uncomfortable with my own sexuality, hesitant to disclose my newly outed status to her. I revelled in the sea of people that stretched and curved like a rainbow snake through the streets, imagining myself amongst them. These are songs that I’d want to hear at a happy hour after the parade, at a club or at a party of queer friends at the end of the night. Happy Pride!”
