Tangerine Dream Essentials

Having released over 100 albums over their 40-year career, Berlin's Tangerine Dream are likely the most important new age group in history. They pioneered the sequencer technique on 1974's Phaedra that would become the cornerstone of their sound, and influenced the development of prog, krautrock, and myriad forms of electronic music. The group also contributed to many film scores, most notably William Friedkin's 1977 thriller Sorcerer, which spent seven weeks in the UK charts. Founder Edgar Froese remained the heart of the band through numerous incarnations until his death in 2015.
