Sylvain Cossette Essentials

Unlike many graduates of the Québec star system, Sylvain Cossette has a history of vacillating between English- and French-language recordings. In the late '80s, he was a member of slick, big-haired anglophone pop-rock outfit Paradox, but upon going solo in the mid-'90s, he emerged as an award-winning francophone crooner of earthy, soulful ballads and roots-inflected rock. Since then, he's become the rare big-in-Québec success story to cross over to English Canadian audiences—thanks in large part to the 70s series of albums he released in the late '00s, wherein Cossette applied his rich, resonant voice to old favourites by Paul McCartney, Eagles, The Police, and many other classic-rock icons.
