Swindle Essentials

Swindle Essentials

After originally establishing himself as a grime producer, forging beats for Chip, Professor Green, and Asher D during the 2000s, Swindle has become totemic of the UK underground’s quicksilver diversity and invention. Jazz, funk, dubstep, rap—no two styles are incompatible for the South Londoner, who fuses genres, eras, and locations with transformative skill. Grime takes on new punch when delivered by horn and string sections on “Drill Work” featuring Ghetts, while jazz blooms in and out of dubstep as naturally as day follows night on “Mad Ting” featuring JME. Swindle’s recruitment policy is equally broad and imaginative, bringing in established and rookie vocalists alike to add extra layers and twists to his rich, fluid tapestries.
