

Long before the Steve Miller Band found pop fame with radio-friendly singles, they cut tons of trippy cult classics full of spacey atmospheres and psychedelic languor, like the hazy, heady instrumental “Song for Our Ancestors.” Their early days are full of rootsy revelations too, such as the flamethrower guitar solo on “Going to Mexico” and the woozy, slide-guitar-slathered hippie blues of “High On You Mama.”
