Mohamed Amine Khemissa, a.k.a. Sneazzy, first honed his mic skills in the underground French rap collective 1995, which favored the DJ Premier-esque production, deft verse-trading, and head-spinning internal rhymes of boom bap. Though Sneazzy’s 2015 solo debut Super tanked, he came back with a trilogy of surprise EPs, Dieu bénisse Supersound, in 2016 and 2017 that beguiled critics and fans alike with their sonic variety and pointed braggadocio. His second solo album, 2020’s NOUVO MODE, found him embracing trap’s skittering high hats and smoky atmospherics without sacrificing any of the dense lyricism for which he’s known.
