Skrapz is no stranger to raw, street-inspired narratives, having made his mark within the rugged underbelly of the UK grime scene. After a prison sentence in 2014, he established his style with the mixtape Skrapz Is Back, Pt. II, followed by a proper album, The End of the Beginning, in 2015. As an MC, Skrapz is a prolific storyteller with a melodic and patient flow, presenting crisp images of darkness and the frantic uncertainty of urban life on tracks like the ominous, bass-infused “Round Here.” But he also has an ear for club bangers, as showcased on the shiny, piano-drenched R&B bounce of “Rubber Bands.”
