Shinehead Essentials

British-born, Bronx-raised Shinehead is comfortable DJing, singing, and rapping—and his music comes off as a slick mix of all three. 1986's Rough and Ready outlined his fusion agenda, although it was 1992's Sidewalk University that spawned his crossover moment as he reinterpreted a Sting track into "Jamaican in New York." Two more albums followed in the '90s, leaving Shinehead with a legacy that casts him as an eccentric character who helped straddle the dancehall and hip-hop scenes.
