Selects: Jacques Greene

Jacques Greene’s latest album, Anth01, is essentially a look back at the first decade of the Montreal-raised, Toronto-based producer’s career spent reshaping bass music in the post-dubstep landscape. His edition of Selects—a new biweekly playlist in which DJs and producers showcase their favourite tracks of any given moment—similarly presents a big-picture view of where he’s come from. “Much like DJing, there’s a great joy and opportunity when making playlists to provide a general sense of context for my own work,” he tells Apple Music. “This playlist is a kind of ecosystem that I see myself existing in. Some current favourites, some fundamental influences. In an ideal world I see myself amongst these brilliant artists.” Read on as Greene highlights a few key Selects—and add any that you like to your library. Rochelle Jordan, “Next 2 You” “‘Next 2 You’ is such an incredible example of R&B still pushing boundaries and connecting with the thread of the genre. We worked together on my last album, Dawn Chorus, and I hold her in incredibly high regard. A real talent.” TOKiMONSTA & Channel Tres, “Naked (Nosaj Thing Remix)” “Nosaj Thing is a great friend and peer, and I’m still completely obsessed with this remix he did for TOKiMONSTA and Channel Tres. A mainstay in my DJ sets these days.” PARTYNEXTDOOR, “Right Now” “‘Right Now’ is nothing short of an anthem for my friends and I. Classic sing-along material. R&B is a massive influence on my work, and Party’s first self-produced project remains a reference point for sound palette and energy. Top top top tier.”
