Saves the Day Essentials

Post-teen angst and emotive songs were the key to success for New Jersey alt-rockers Saves the Day. Inspired by '90s underground greats like Jawbreaker and Superchunk, they formed in 1994 and scored with the pop-punk sound of 1999's Through Being Cool. But in the '00s, Saves the Day's sound would evolve into something more melodic and ambitious, combining punk energy with intricate arrangements on albums like 2003's mature and sophisticated In Reverie. As the one remaining original member, singer Chris Conley has steered the band to new creative places.
