Once a backing vocalist for Montreal pop band The Box, Sass Jordan stepped out with her 1988 debut, Tell Somebody, whose title track typified the album's synth-slicked melange of ‘60s Aretha and ‘80s arena rock. But 1992's Racine provided a more natural setting for Jordan's raspy voice, with the biker-bar rocker “Make You a Believer” and elegantly wasted ballad “You Don't Have to Remind Me” exuding the same Stonesy spirit that The Black Crowes were channelling at the time. Highlights from her later discography include simmering covers of CCR (“Have You Ever Seen the Rain”) and herself (2017's Racine Revisited).
