Bobby Byrd dropped "Hot Pants—I'm Coming, Coming, I'm Coming" in the early '70s. The funk song's upbeat drums and perky horns were subsequently discovered as a fertile sample source and flipped into hip-hop tracks for Big Daddy Kane and Public Enemy. Its grooves also helped the Stone Roses score a Madchester anthem and powered the Spice Girls to breakthrough success.
