A multitalented musician, director, and activist, Richard Desjardins rose from humble beginnings in northern Québec to a place among the province's cultural elite. After the dissolution of his first band, Abbittibbi, Desjardins embarked on a solo career. His debut was a mild success, but it wasn't until the release of his second album, 1990's Tu m'aimes-tu, that Desjardins began to take flight: the album sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and earned Desjardins two Félix Awards that year. Desjardins doesn't focus entirely on music, but each new collection of his homespun and humble folk-pop is warmly received by both critics and fans. Catch up on the work of a Québécois legend here.
