They lit up '80s radio with fist-pumping power ballads, but REO Speedwagon's album tracks reveal remarkable breadth. In the early '70s, they combined boogie piano with hard-rock riffs (“157 Riverside Avenue”) and got loose-limbed with the cowbell-led “Like You Do.” They later incorporated '50s stylings with the sweet harmonies of “In Your Letter” while spanning the decades with such heart-swelling slow ones as “I Needed To Fall.”
