Reggae By Rockers

As reggae erupted in Jamaica during the '70s, white rockers looked to its bass-heavy beats and often militant lyrics for authenticity, spirituality, and a bracing, bubbling pulse. In England, reggae became a second language for punk acts like The Clash and The Police. In the U.S., it added bright Caribbean accents to singer/songwriters and party-pop acts alike.
