Blessed with incredible hair and a knack for crystalline guitar and synth hooks, Toronto's Platinum Blonde owned a good chunk of Canadian rock radio through the middle of the ‘80s thanks to hits like the anguished “Not In Love” and the gigantic “Crying Over You.” Their best-known work rings with that decade's signature tone and sheen, but the band was active many decades later: they reunited in 2010, and in 2012 released their first album as Platinum Blonde in 25 years. Their work exerted unexpected influence on young Canadians, with proof coming in the form of goth-pop duo Crystal Castles' 2010 cover of “Not In Love.” That song became a minor hit with hipsters around the world, bringing Platinum Blonde to new ears everywhere.
