Born Chad Butler, Pimp C came to prominence as one half of the Port Arthur duo UGK in the late-'80s. As befits his name, his verses included jewels approved by legendary pimps like Bishop Don “Magic" Juan and Pimpin Ken, emerging as the outspoken member of the group. A stint in prison threatened to halt his career, although 2005's Sweet James Jones Stories was released by Rap-A-Lot while he was still incarcerated. Pimp C passed away in 2007 but his personality runs strong through the Houston hip-hop scene.
