N.W.A. had already made Dr. Dre a legend when he plucked a charismatic young Long Beach rapper named Calvin Broadus out of obscurity to anchor his 1992 era-defining G-funk masterpiece The Chronic. Snoop Dogg's Dre-produced blockbuster solo debut, Doggystyle, soon followed, and in the decades since, the two West Coast institutions have sporadically linked up to trade rhymes on each other's projects.
