Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Filippo “Nek” Neviani won international recognition in competition at 97's San Remo Music Festival. Although his entry only managed 7th place, it emerged as the biggest chart success of that year's event, driving sales of his LP Lei, gli amici e tutto il resto through the stratosphere; the album was certified platinum six times over. Although that album still stands as his commercial peak, Nek has maintained his popularity over 11 more full-length releases, and '15's Prima di parlare found him operating at the height of his powers.
