Motown was the most successful label in America throughout the ‘60s, popularizing soul and R&B from Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, The Supremes, and many more—landing nearly 80 songs in the Top 10. The small regional indie also transformed into a dominant national brand and became the soundtrack to the civil rights movement.
