Monolake Essentials

In the late '90s, the German duo known as Monolake began releasing eerie and atmospheric dub techno that split the difference between club music and ambient, and with their woozy rhythms and synths soaked in echo and reverb, they helped define the moody sound of the legendary Chain Reaction label. Over the years, Monolake's hypnotic tracks have grown sharper-edged and more complex, but even as they've veered toward the intricate and experimental side of minimal techno, Monolake have never fully abandoned the singularly haunting sound that first made them underground electronica heroes.
