MisterWives’ vibrant indie pop is in constant flux. Formed in 2012, the NYC group found their footing with sunny, effervescent cuts like euphoric disco groover “Reflections” and the brass-blasting, Chic-like stomper “Our Own House,” from their 2015 debut album of the same name. Anchored by singer/songwriter Mandy Lee’s chameleonic voice—which can effortlessly flow between sweet, sassy, and soulful—the band has pushed their sound in many unexpected directions since, slipping between sax-infused alt-R&B (“SUPERBLOOM”), snappy synth-pop (“3 small words”), and even a mesmerizing Chance the Rapper cover (“Same Drugs”).
