Marianne Faithfull: Deep Cuts

Many unexpectedly sharp delights lie in the outer reaches of Marianne Faithfull's back catalogue: pugnacious mid-‘60s freak folk on “Sally Free and Easy,” skeletal and scabrous alt-funk (“Desperanto”), and scathing metal (“The Memory Remains”). But there are also moments of soft contemplation, such as the languid “Hello Stranger” or the mature, questing “Witches' Song.”
