The late Manuel Molina Jiménez is the king of Andalusian guitar. A member of late-'60s/early-'70s prog-blues outfit Smash, he soon went back to his roots. With singer Dolores Montoya in the duo Lole y Manuel he pioneered nuevo flamenco, which had the intensity of traditional flamenco but less formality.
