Indie songsmith M. Ward built his early albums on his moody croon and stripped-down guitar sound, but by 2006's Post-War, he'd incorporated everything from soul to ‘60s pop flavours. Ward also formed supergroup Monsters Of Folk with Conor Oberst and Jim James, and worked with the likes of Neko Case and Jenny Lewis.
