M-Clan Essentials

Formed in Murcia, Spain, in the early ‘90s, M-Clan was the brainchild of singer Carlos Tarque and guitarist Ricardo Ruipérez. Influenced by the old-fashioned swagger of Memphis rock ‘n' roll, the band often top their country guitar licks with a bold horn section and soulful female background vocals. Blending sorrow and passion, Tarque's gruff vocals are elevated by M-Clan's bluesier numbers. The band's Usar y tirar was a major smash in 1999 and paved the way for the popular 2001 acoustic release, Sin enchufe (Unplugged)—which included covers of hits by Rod Stewart and The Rolling Stones.
