Kerri Chandler Essentials

Standing on milk crates to reach the decks, Kerri Chandler learned to DJ with his father's disco records when he was just a kid, but soon he was opening for his dad at a local club. Spinning led to making records—hip-hop at first, and then the house and garage sound popular at Newark's legendary Zanzibar club. Few have taken house deeper than Chandler, whose moody chords helped define the soulful side of club music in the '90s and provided the blueprint for deep house's 21st-century revival. As a resident at Ibiza's Circo Loco, he continues to spread the garage gospel worldwide.
