Johnny Cash: The '70s
Apple Music

With a voice pitched somewhere below the bottom of the Mississippi River, and a ragged-but-right feel merging honky-tonk and rockabilly, Johnny Cash had revolutionized country on ‘50s tunes like “Cry! Cry! Cry!”, whose vengeful message was matched by its razor-wire guitar riffs. In the early ‘70s, he was still challenging the status quo, decrying the Vietnam War on his anthem of outrage “Man in Black.”
