Two years before The Beatles parted, John Lennon released Unfinished Music, No. 1: Two Virgins, a stunning noise collage he made with his lover at the time—the avant-garde artist, Yoko Ono. (Its then-controversial cover featured a nude photograph of the two.) Lennon's solo work thereafter was similarly fearless, marked by his adventurous spirit and unguarded confessionals, as well as the indelible influence of Ono. This set captures Lennon at his most bold.
