Japandroids Essentials

Brian King and David Prowse came together to form the Vancouver-based indie rock band Japandroids in 2006, but success was far from immediate. Their melodic noise rock, inspired by punk bands like Hüsker Dü and Jawbreaker, didn't yield them much attention early on, and the two considered splitting pending the release of their 2009 debut Post-Nothing. Luckily for us, the album met with massive critical acclaim, and finally earned Japandroids the attention they'd been missing. They toured heavily on the release, and eventually put out a second album, 2012's Celebration Rock.
