Heavy '70s: Blooze
Apple Music

The heavy blues template established by late-‘60s-era bands like Cream and Black Sabbath—monolithic slabs of volume, drums, and distortion—was adopted in the ‘70s by acts on both sides of the Atlantic. Compiled here are thunderous cuts by proto-metal and garage bands like Josephus and The Flamin' Groovies, as well as Joe Walsh's short-lived Barnstorm and Japan's acid-tinged Speed, Glue & Shinki.
