Hank Williams III: Influences

Hank Williams III: Influences

As he boasts in his beloved “Country Heroes,” Hank Williams III worships honky-tonk and outlaw country. From his legendary grandfather he gets his hiccupping drawl and love of sawed fiddles (“Move It On Over”), while David Allan Coe taught him the art of penning greasy anthems full of rebellion (“Longhaired Redneck”). But Williams also is a headbanger, one who drops thunderous riffs inspired by his idols in Black Sabbath (“Children of the Grave”).
