Prolific UK guitarist and former Napalm Death member Justin Broadrick and bassist G.C. Green launched Godflesh in 1988. They went on to become one of the most influential bands of the 1990s and have since been regarded by many as the founding fathers of industrial metal and nu-metal. Equally inspired by noise rock and ambient electronica, Godflesh added drum machines, synths, and samples to their heavy, sludgy, doom riffs. After releasing six albums, Broadrick disbanded Godflesh in 2002 only to regroup in 2010 and release A World Lit Only by Fire in 2014.
