Given The Velvet Underground's reputation for experimentation, it was natural that the group's members would follow an eclectic path in their solo work. Singer and lyricist Lou Reed enjoyed chart success and critical acclaim while bassist John Cale produced albums by The Stooges, among others. Drummer Moe Tucker recorded several lo-fi albums and collaborated with indie eccentrics Half Japanese.
