Eric Clapton spent the ‘60s band-hopping and honing his formidable blues chops. He rose to fame as The Yardbirds' guitar prodigy before turning up loud for John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Then he formed the pioneering hard rock power trio Cream; from there, he turned to country soul (with Delaney & Bonnie and Blind Faith) and Southern rock (with Derek & The Dominos).
