Enrique Morente: Next Steps

Enrique Morente: Next Steps

Morente became a controversial figure to flamenco’s orthodox establishment, borrowing instruments and melodies from rock and blues as those styles flourished in the 60s and 70s. “Manhattan” is centred by a towering Spanish guitar, imperious drumming, and the undercurrent of electric guitar fuzz, while “Estrella” adopts the correct flamenco sound on top of a bluesy song structure.
