Originally from rural British Columbia, Dean Brody, like many a country hopeful, made the pilgrimage to the holy city of Nashville in order to start his musical career. Things didn't work out the first time, but he eventually landed a record deal with American indie label Broken Bow Records, which gave his debut album some stateside recognition. By his second album, he was back in his home country on Canadian imprint Open Road, quickly establishing himself as a dominant force in country. Brody became a proud Canadian icon (who else but a true patriot could namecheck Degrassi, Stompin' Tom, and Ron MacLean?), racking up trophies at the CCMAs and Junos.
