A family man with a Peter Pan streak, Québécois singer/songwriter David Jalbert has written songs to his mother, wife, and each of his children. In "Hey jack!," Jalbert sends consolation with a reggae beat from one middle child, himself, to another, his son; in "Voyage" he declaims the pleasures of travel with folk rock gusto. A realist with an ironic tinge and a mildly hoarse voice, Jalbert chronicles his small-town upbringing in "Souvenirs d'enfance," while "Shérif du village" mocks provincial prejudice with barrelhouse bluster.
