It’s always unpredictable when a child star grows up. But Danna Paola—the Mexican singer and actress who starred in dozens of TV shows, voiced Rapunzel in the Spanish-language version of Tangled, and played Elphaba in Wicked—has made a convincing transition. Blessed with an incredible vocal range, she released her first album of kid pop at age six. In 2012, she released her first “grown-up” album, showcasing a fuller voice ready for big, fiery ballads and sassy electro-pop. In the ensuing years, she’s edging convincingly into urbano territory, cemented by a slew of singles and the slinky 2020 release SIE7E+.
