Montreal's Daniel Boucher is a rock classicist on a journey through francophone pop music. His early songs are full of spiky, probing lead guitar and purring Hammond organ, their clearest sonic influence being the psychedelic blues and soul of Jimi Hendrix (fittingly, Boucher owns the first guitar Hendrix ever burned). There is also a clear love of the unexpected Radiohead chord change. More recent releases have been sparser affairs, emphasising his whispery croon and gently funky ballads (with extra wah pedal and touches of John Barry orchestration, naturally).
