High Valley’s new album Way Back is out now, and one of its first singles, “Country Music, Girls & Trucks,” leads this week’s Canada’s Country. The heartfelt tune takes some of the country genre’s best-loved tropes and turns them into a song about family and identity, with a vocal assist from the band’s friend and collaborator Granger Smith. “This song is about growing up in Northern Alberta,” principal singer and songwriter Brad Rempel tells Apple Music. “It's about hearing Alabama for the first time in my dad's '79 Ford pickup, which he still owns today. It's about falling in love and settling down in rural Tennessee, trying to create the same type of memories for my boys.” Listen to “Country Music, Girls & Trucks” and then check back as we showcase the finest modern country songs made by Canadians. We update this playlist with new music every week—if you like a track, add it to your library.
