Coodjinburra singer-songwriter Budjerah Julum Slabb has been prolific yet reliable since debuting in 2020 while still in his teens. Crafting smooth, hummable pop with playful soul and funk flourishes, Budjerah has also displayed impeccable taste when choosing collaborators. Early mentor Matt Corby produced his self-titled first EP in 2021, and he teamed up with PNAU for club-friendly local hit “Stranger Love,” The following year saw Budjerah nail a high-profile guest turn with Ed Sheeran (on the delicately catchy “2step”). His malleable voice and confident artistic choices have also served him well when covering modern Australian classics, including The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” alongside Ngaiire and Gretta Ray and Crowded House’s “Better Be Home Soon” with WILSN.
