Black Stone Cherry Essentials

Mixing hulking crunch with greasy grooves, Black Stone Cherry have helped deliver classic Southern rock into the alt-metal era. The Kentucky act kept things stripped down on their earliest recordings—the 2006 single “Hell and High Water” is all about beefy blues riffs and growling choruses. With the release of the blue-collar screamer “White Trash Millionaire” in 2011, they began injecting their jams with strutting funk beats and boastful rhymes inspired by hip-hop. These qualities come out on the fan favourite “Me and Mary Jane,” a rowdy party anthem laced with seriously nasty wah-wah.
