Black Dice Essentials

Brooklyn's Black Dice began life in the late '90s as a noisy post-punk outfit, but soon swerved into a hard-to-classify electronic/drone hybrid, acquiring both an international audience and the support from figures like LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy. Their 2002 album, Beaches & Canyons, found new vistas in shifting ambience and rolling, sun-seeking rhythms, while later efforts like 2005's Broken Ear Record and their ongoing collaborations with Wolf Eyes have added techno glitches, fractured beats, and cartoonish sound effects into their ever-bubbling mix.
