Founded in 1979 during reggae's heyday, Vincent and Patricia Chin's VP Records continues to negotiate the shifting sands of Jamaican music into the 21st century. Classic rocksteady like Beres Hammond's gentle “Rock Away” forms the bedrock, but the label also anticipates the genre's future, be it the Christian message of T.O.K.'s “Footprints” or the R&B fusion of Wayne Wonder's “No Letting Go.”
