Russian orchestral music was born with Mikhail Glinka at the beginning of the 19th century. Stravinsky later wrote that “every piece of Russian music comes from him.” Although other classical forms play a huge role in Russia's cultural development, the orchestral tradition—from Glinka to Prokofiev and beyond—holds a weath of richly rewarding recordings.
