Before Bluegrass: The '20s

It's miraculous that so many of these early artists ever stepped in front of a microphone at all, let alone that their ancient recordings survived. Thanks to the efforts of some dedicated musical historians, we can all hear these blues, jazz, country, and gospel performers from the ‘20s, whose sounds would develop into the tradition we now call bluegrass.
