Basic Channel Essentials
Apple Music
First coming together in 1993, Berlin techno producers Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus dubbed themselves Basic Channel, and in keeping with their minimalist style, they gave their label the same name. The pair stripped techno down to mesmerizing rhythms, layered them with all manner of fizzing synth textures, and then swathed their hypnotic tracks in the psychedelic echo of dub reggae. The two would take their love of dub even further via spin-off labels like Chain Reaction and Burial Mix, creating an eerie and enveloping brand of techno where the beats swayed rather than stomped.
